Hononegah swears in reelected school board members

All four incumbents were reelected in the April election and the board is keeping the same officers.

As another school year is coming to a close, Hononegah Community High School's Board of Education will continues working and meeting during the summer months with the same members and officers.

The Hononegah school board was the first to swear in newly reelected members at their April 16, 2025 meeting. Committee chairs and co-chairs were introduced by board president David Kurlinkus at the May meeting.

All four incumbents, Joshua BallardEric FlohrBob Geddeis, and Gayle Haab, were reelected in the general election on April 1, 2025.

An unusually large crowd caused this multilayered meeting to be held in the Hononegah Performing Arts Center the night that oaths were taken.

HCHS school board president Dave Kurlinkus declared the election results from the Winnebago County Clerk for the four board seats on Hononegah Community High School District 207 Board of Education. He introduced those being sworn in and gave the total number of votes for each.

Joshua Ballard was reelected after being appointed in November of 2024 to fill a vacant seat on the school board. This will be his first full four year term. Ballard is a 2003 graduate of HCHS. He received a total of 3,194 votes.

Eric Flohr is serving in his second four year term. Flohr was the principal of Hononegah Community High School for five years prior to his retirement. Flohr had a total of 2,950 votes.

Bob Geddeis is serving his fifth four year term. He was reelected with 2,792 votes.

Gayle Haab originally filled a vacancy on the Hononegah School Board, went through the interview process by the school board members, and was selected to fill the vacancy. She was sworn in as a member of the school board in September 2022.

In the April election, Haab was reelected to a full term, and will serve through April of 2029. Haab received 2,473 votes.

The board held two meetings on the same night. At the first, Dave Kurlinkus was voted by the BOE as President pro tem. Kurlinkus gave the oath of office to the four reelected officers.

In a second board meeting, new business included reorganization of the board. An election of officers resulted in Dave Kurlinkus remaining in the role of board president, as he has for many years, with Mary Lewis as vice president, and Bob Geddeis as secretary. All are remaining in their former positions.

The board established the third Wednesday at 7 p.m. as the regular meeting date and time, in the school library, and ratified the board policies for the district.
