Hononegah standout volleyball player Brayden Savitski-Lyde signs D1 letter of intent
Hardwork+dreaming make for national letter of intent with Ball State University for Brayden Savitski-Lyde
Brayden Savitski-Lyde recently signed his national letter of intent with the Ball State Cardinals to play Men’s Division 1 volleyball.
Brayden dreamed of being a D1 athlete for as long as he can remember. He just never thought it would be in volleyball until much later in his career. Growing up, Brayden was a great all-around athlete. He was always watching high-level volleyball that his family played. It wasn’t until he was asked to fill in on a travel volleyball team that his fire for volleyball was stoked. After this opportunity became available, he felt a change in the sport that would become his passion and desire.
In Brayden’s junior year, an assistant coach for Ball State with ties to the Rockford area noticed him at a tournament. As they say, the rest is history, Brayden was able to visit the Muncie, IN campus and fell in love with the small town city that is home to Ball State.

No promises have been made on playing time, position on the team, or role on the team, but Brayden is confident in his skills and that he will either fill the role of outside hitter or blocker.
With only 23 D1 men’s volleyball programs, Ball State plays in one of the most competitive conferences and sports at the NCAA D1 level. The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) placed 4 teams in the top 15 last season at the year-end poll. Teams like Ball State, Lewis, Loyola-Chicago, and Purdue Fort Wayne make it the most competitive coming into the 2023 campaign.
