Hononegah loses heat for a day, but boys swimming and diving team is hot at Auburn Invitational
Over the weekend, two boilers formed leaks while the swim team set records.
While Hononegah Community High School experienced a remote learning day on Monday because of boiler problems in part of its campus, Superintendent Michael J. Dugan said they "should have heat back in the affected areas" by the end of the day. In-person classes are scheduled for the rest of the week. Later, in an email confirmation to parents, administrators said, "Thank you to our Buildings and Grounds team and some outside support for their work to get the system back in working order."
Last fall, Hononegah awarded contracts to three vendors for removal and replacement of aging boilers.
In an email to Rockton-Roscoe News, Dugan explained, "Two boilers that were installed in November formed leaks over the weekend... The loss of water required a shut down of the system. The manufacturer is investigating the cause of the leaks."
Besides 16 classrooms, the affected areas included the Performing Arts Center, the band room, choral Room and District office.
