Hononegah Indian girls volleyball beats Dekalb 2 sets to 0

Tuesday night was the opening of the 2024 postseason for the Hononegah girls volleyball team. On Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, the Indians came into the match 27-8 and 18-0 as the 2024 NIC-10 conference champions and overwhelming favorites to defeat their opponent from DeKalb 16-19 on the season. As expected, Hononegah overmatched and overswung the DeKalb Barbs on Tuesday night.

Game 1 started a bit slow but Hononegah turned it on in the middle of the opening set to win 25-16. Game 2 was more of what Hononegah has done all season against the competition in the NIC-10, winning 25-15.

With the win, Hononegah head volleyball coach Kaylee Libby surpasses 220 wins in her career at Hononegah.

Crazy stat that I had to make sure I triple-checked: Coach Libby and her team have won 67 of their last 72 matches in NIC-10 conference play - that’s legendary by any measure.

The next round brings Hampshire as they disposed of Rockford Jefferson 25-8 and 25-11. The match is on Thursday, October 31st, 2024 at 6 pm from the Hampshire High School.
