Hononegah Community High School’s girls flag football team delivered a complete, wire‑to‑wire victory on Tuesday, blanking Guilford 20–0 behind explosive playmaking from Layla Demke, Harper Vanderheyden, Claire Vanschelven, and a swarming defensive unit that controlled the game from the opening whistle.

Offense Sets the Tone Early

Quarterback Layla Demke engineered a balanced attack, finishing 8–13 for 92 yards, two touchdowns, and a 1‑point conversion. Quarterback Taylor Passmore added a clean 1–1 passing line.

On the ground, Demke was unstoppable, rushing 11 times for 96 yards and a touchdown, plus another 1‑point conversion. Running back Emma Heidenreich added 20 yards on four carries, while Harper Vanderheyden contributed 24 yards on three carries.

Defense Dominates Start to Finish

The Indians’ defense was relentless, allowing Guilford no room to breathe. Senior linebacker Addison Beilfuss led the team with five tackles, while Taitum Cates and Makiya Harshbarger each recorded a sack.

Junior linebacker Karla Krause delivered the game’s biggest defensive swing with a 29‑yard interception return, flipping momentum firmly in Hononegah’s favor.
