Hononegah Girls Flag Football Dominates Boylan in 38–7 Win at Kelsey Field
Under the lights at Kelsey Field on Monday evening, the Hononegah Indians delivered one of their most complete performances of the season, overpowering Boylan Catholic 38–7 to move to 14–2 overall and 7–1 in the NIC‑10.
From the opening series, Hononegah controlled the pace, the field position, and the scoreboard. Quarterback Layla Demke set the tone with efficient scoring drives, while the defense stacked pressure and turnovers to keep Boylan off balance all night.
Offense Sets the Tempo
Demke was sharp in the red zone, finishing 4‑of‑9 passing for 45 yards, three touchdowns, and two one‑point conversions, while adding 64 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground. Her dual‑threat playmaking repeatedly broke Boylan’s containment.
Taylor Passmore complemented the attack with 4‑of‑7 passing for 38 yards and 20 rushing yards, including a touchdown that pushed Hononegah’s lead into runaway territory.
The ground game was relentless:

- Emma Heidenreich: 5 rushes, 36 yards
- Harper Vanderheyden: 5 rushes, 70 yards

Through the air, Claire Vanschelven once again proved nearly unguardable, hauling in 4 receptions for 54 yards, two touchdowns, and a one‑point conversion. Mikayla Mowers added 3 catches for 22 yards, a touchdown, and a conversion, while Alexis Eich chipped in a key seven‑yard grab.
Defense Overwhelms Boylan
Hononegah’s defense was fast, physical, and opportunistic—producing three interceptions, multiple sacks, and consistent backfield disruption.

Momentum Building Late in the Season
With Monday’s win, Hononegah continues to assert itself as one of the NIC‑10’s most complete teams—balanced, deep, and capable of explosive scoring runs on both sides of the ball.
The Indians now turn their attention to a road matchup Wednesday at Freeport, followed by their final home game of the week on Thursday, Sept. 24, when they host Harvard in a non‑conference contest.
