On a cold, crisp fall night with a light northern breeze sweeping across Kelsey Field, Hononegah delivered its most complete performance of the season, shutting out Boylan Catholic 56–0 in front of bundled‑up fans. The game was chippy at times, but the Indians never wavered — and never let go of the throttle.

The night carried extra weight: it was the final regular‑season home game for retiring head coach Brian Zimmerman, who has spent decades shaping the program. His players responded with a dominant, disciplined effort that felt like a tribute in motion.

1st Quarter: Fast Start, Total Control

Hononegah kicked off to Boylan to open the game, and the Titans’ first possession ended quickly with a punt. The Indians took over at the Boylan 31, , quarterback Dominic Cacciatore hit Giovanni Zepeda on a 28‑yard touchdown strike. Dylan Weber added the PAT for a 7–0 lead.

After another Boylan turnover on downs, Hononegah marched again. A long run from Jacob Duval set up a red‑zone push, and Cacciatore punched in a 1‑yard rushing touchdown. Nolan Meadors made it 14–0.

The Indians kept rolling. Cacciatore found Richie Gambini on a long pass to the 11, on the next play Mykell Mueller snagged an 11‑yard touchdown. Meadors’ PAT extended the lead to 21–0.

Just before the quarter ended, Colton Banker grabbed his first interception of the night a sign of what was to come.

2nd Quarter: Banker Takes Over

Hononegah opened the second quarter in the red zone but turned the ball over on downs. Boylan couldn’t escape its own end, and the Indians regained possession near midfield.

Cacciatore ripped off a long run to the Boylan 17, and Duval finished the drive with a 17‑yard touchdown run Meadors stayed perfect: 28–0.

Then came the defensive fireworks.

Banker intercepted his second pass of the night. Hononegah capitalized with a long pass to Greggory Smith, followed by another Duval burst to the 15. Cacciatore powered in a 4‑yard rushing touchdown stretching the lead to 35–0.

With under a minute left in the half, Banker delivered the highlight of the night if not the season a 49‑yard pick‑six, his third interception of the game. Meadors’ PAT made it 42–0 at halftime.

Zimmerman didn’t hide his admiration afterward:

“Colton Banker that was the first time I’ve seen three interceptions, maybe in my career. Pretty phenomenal. And the way he did that last one, that tip and his catch… pretty phenomenal.”

3rd Quarter: Szarzynski Adds to the Avalanche

Hononegah received the second‑half kickoff and immediately struck again. Marice Szarzynski burst through the line, tiptoed along the Hononegah sideline and sprinted 53 yards for a touchdown. Meadors’ PAT made it 49–0.

The defense forced another Boylan punt, and Hononegah drove deep into Titan territory as the quarter wound down, closing the third with complete command.

4th Quarter: Bertrand Caps the Night

Early in the fourth, Robert Bertrand punched in a 5‑yard touchdown, pushing the score to 56–0 after Meadors’ seventh PAT of the night.

Boylan’s frustrations showed as the game grew increasingly chippy, but Hononegah stayed composed. With eight minutes left, Keegan Bryant recovered a fumble, adding another defensive highlight.

Zimmerman Reflects on a Special Night

After the game, Coach Zimmerman spoke with emotion more than he typically shows about his team, the performance, and the significance of the night.

“Our guys came out and were really focused, and they did everything we asked them to do in the first half. If we continue to play like that, I think we’ll be formidable in the playoffs. We’re on the right path for continued success.”

He also addressed Cacciatore’s fired‑up performance against his former team:

“Obviously he was fired up tonight playing his old team. He did a couple things I didn’t appreciate on the sideline, but other than that, he did everything we asked him to do as a quarterback.”

When asked whether the moment — his final regular‑season home game — had truly hit him yet, Zimmerman paused for a moment:

“Not yet. It won’t until after the season most likely. But it’s certainly been a special year. I’m excited about the playoffs and the opportunities we have. I’ve really enjoyed being with my coaching staff and these players.”

A Fitting Tribute

On a cold fall night, under the lights he’s stood beneath for years, Zimmerman watched his team deliver a performance that felt like a salute — disciplined, explosive, and relentless.

Hononegah now heads toward the postseason with one regular season game remaining they have momentum, confidence, and a defense that forced turnovers at will. And for one night, the scoreboard reflected not just dominance, but gratitude.
