Hershel Jones would often be found in a garage sharing his love of cars and motorcycles
Visitation and funeral will be Monday, June 19, 2023
Hershel L. Jones, 51, attended Hononegah High School, graduating from Winnebago High School in 1990. Born December 17, 1971 in Elgin, IL, son of Lula "Lou" L. (Pack) and John F. Murray, he was united in marriage to Melissa Lange on December 16, 2019.
He died on June 9, 2023.
A resident of Candler, NC, Hershel was a truck driver in Asheville, NC for Fortiline Waterworks.
Hershel loved big. With a servant's heart, he would extend a hand to any and everyone in need. Hershel was never at a loss of words and could always be counted on for a beneficial word of advice. He was truly a jack of all trades and enjoyed using his hands to fix and build anything. It was not uncommon to find him in a garage sharing his love of cars and motorcycles. Hershel had a deep love of Jesus.
His family says, "We will miss his smile, his definite own sense of humor and his love. But one day, when the Lord determines, we will see him again. Go with God, and be at peace, dear son."
He is survived by wife, Melissa; children, Amber (Sean) Pekarsky, Shaleena Skarka, Kayla McKinney, Codie Jones, Zack (Rachel) Jones, Channie (Korbon) Johnson, Emma Kamholz, Bobby Peddycord, Breanna Peddycord, Claudia (Jersey) Norris, Billy Peddycord, Liam Lange, Landon Lange; numerous grandchildren; parents, Lou (John) Murray; siblings, Melissa (Eric) Pierson, Kristin (Coleton) Simpson, Brittany Sluder, Rosanne (Jason) Bonlander; brother-in-law, Trevor Shirk; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family; family friend, Kevin (Penney) Albright; and best friend and dog Danny, a boxer.
