An out-of-control burn pile on Hamborg Road Sunday was controlled, thanks to Harlem-Roscoe firefighters.

On the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, Harlem-Roscoe firefighters responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Hamborg Road and Elevator Road, involving a Ford truck and a red Chevy car. No one was transported to the hospital.

Earlier in the day, the department responded to a two-vehicle accident on I-90 near Mile Marker 1.25, near the Illinois Welcome Center in South Beloit.  Despite extensive damage to both cars, no one was transported by ambulance.

On Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, a caller reported smoke in the area on Hamborg Road. Upon their arrival, firefighters determined that embers from a burn pit probably spread into a pile of wood and into the wooded area behind the home. The fire was contained and extinguished without injuries.
