Hononegah girls basketball stand-out Haley Warren will be attending Lewis University next fall. On Jan. 5, she signed a letter of intent to play basketball at the school.
Seated between her parents, Jeremy and Tiffany Warren and surrounded by the HCHS girls basketball team, coaches, friends and family, Haley heard words of praise and encouragement from girls basketball coach Jason Brunke and AAU club coach Danny McLarty.
The first person to speak on her behalf was her dad, Jeremy. He reminisced about her start in basketball while a sixth-grade student at Roscoe Middle School. “Haley has always been driven. She is a good student, a member of the National Honor Society, on the high honor roll, and a hard-working member of the basketball team.”
“This is a great opportunity for Haley. She has put in a lot of work. She is competitive and willing to take on the role of leader,” Coach Brunke said.
“Haley is tough and a leader,” McLarty added.” “I’m proud of you, Haley. Keep it going. Don’t be satisfied.”
In addition to playing basketball, Haley was on the volleyball and soccer team at Hononegah.
Haley, sporting a Lewis University cap, thanked her parents, teammates and coaches for their support.
Her plans for the future are to earn a bachelors degree and become a sports broadcaster.
