Gary Holman (1949-2022) loved a good joke

Gary Eugene Holman Sr., age 73, of Roscoe and formerly of Rockford, was always the life of the party. Gary loved a good joke, pulling pranks and having fun. He was born in Menomonie, WI on March 1, 1949 to Lester Palmer & Darlene Mae Holman (Hughes).  A proud union member of the Operating Engineers Local 150, Gary retired after 36 years of service at Rockford Blacktop/William Charles. He was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed country music, feeding & watching his hummingbirds, and spending time with his family & friends.

Gary passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday July 12, 2022, surrounded by family. A beloved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, brother and dear friend, he will remain forever in our hearts.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 55 ½ years, Wendy Alice Holman (Dickinson); children, Angela (Paul) McNally, Kimberly Holman, Gary (Teresa) Holman Jr. and Diana (Ivan) Dismuke; grandchildren, Chrishaunda, Alivia, Michael, Marcus, Alycia, Nathan, Anna, Niklas, Christian and Cameron; great grandchildren, Ayden, Marcus Jr., Laylah, Harmony and Miles; siblings, twins Sandra Hinkle & Sharon (Leon) Adams, David (late Chris) Holman, Charlotte Holman, Deborah (Dean) Tande and Sarah Holman (Craig Bieri); numerous nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, aunts & uncles and cousins; and beloved birds, Baby & Boy. He is predeceased by his parents.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be announced later, after cremation rites have been accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers & memorials, you may send donations to OSF Home Health & Hospice.
