Games to watch on the 2025 Hononegah Football Schedule
Hononegah, as always, is a favorite to sit at the top of the NIC-10 conference.
With high school football season around the corner, I thought it would be fun to take a closer look into the Hononegah Football Schedule.
The NIC-10 conference has its normal set of tough schools, and Hononegah has its rivals to contend with. Let's dive deeper into the games that will give us a good idea about this year's team.
Belvidere North vs Hononegah - October 17th, 2025, 7 pm kickoff. North is coming off a deep run into the playoffs last year, and Head Coach Jeff Beck returns conference defensive MVP Erick Roman, as well as explosive athlete Ben Bucher, who last season ran for nearly 1,000 yards and scored 16 touchdowns. Last year's 22-19 Hononegah victory came with some great defensive stands and an incredible scramble and throw from Dominic Kelly (signed with Ripon College).
Harlem vs Hononegah - September 12th, 2025, 7 pm kickoff. The Huskies of Harlem finished 7-2 last season but lost all-conference performer Jahmani Muhammad (signed with Winona State). Coach James Morrow always brings teams that will compete and possess some dangerous offensive weapons.
Guilford vs Hononegah - September 19th, 2025, 7 pm kickoff. The Indians will again need to be aware of University of Kentucky signee Messiah Tilson. Last season, Hononegah shut out the Vikings as their defense played perhaps their best game, limiting Tilson to 7 catches for just 51 yards. Word on the street is that they will try to use Tilson more in the running game this season, as they lost first-team all-conference running back Izaias Primus (McKendree University).
Freeport vs Hononegah - 2025 Hononegah Homecoming Game, September 26th, 2025, 7 pm kickoff. Freeport is one of the biggest mysteries in the conference this season. Is last season's 5-4 record an anomaly, or is it an upward trend for a program that from 2021 to 2023 had a record of 8-19? They need to replace Cameron Verner. The Pretzel running back scored 11 touchdowns to help lead Freeport to the IHSA playoffs.
Finally, Hononegah, as always, is a favorite to sit at the top of the NIC-10 conference. Coach Zimmerman and his staff prepare to face each opponent as they understand that in the NIC-10, any Friday/Saturday, a team can compete and win.
The Saturday, August 30th, 2025 game is a noon kickoff at Auburn High School.
