This year, the SOBOs, who have fought their way to 4th in their conference, are hosting the varsity girl's volleyball regionals. After the #8 Christian Life Eagles played the #1 team in the conference, the Harvest Christian Lions, our lady SOBOs took on Rockford Lutheran's Crusaders.
Christian Life's head coach, Patrick McGuire, when prompted on his confidence for the game on October 30, 2024 against Harvest Christian, referred to the last time they played against Harvest Christian, which was a rougher game. However, this time, he hopes that with a sounder offense and defense, the Eagles can "keep it close" or at least "match their offense."
The game came out harsh though, with Harvest Christian winning the first and second match by a tragic amount, and took the win home.
Afterward, at 7 p.m., the SOBOs and the Crusaders took the court.
SOBOs Assistant Volleyball Coach Cole Nelson stated that he felt "like the team is confident... and they're ready to leave it on the court." Rockford Lutheran's Head Coach Mizahna Gonzalez, had this to say herself:
I'm pretty confident... I've got 8 seniors on the team, they're a tightknit group. They're ready to show it on the court."
The first set of the night was won by Rockford Lutheran, with an end score of 25-11, followed by the second set with an end score of 25-14. The SOBOs still gave it their all though, with displays of skill by all players, with the following players from both sides as highlights:
- #5, Charlie O'Brien, Jr. SOBO
- #15, Peyton Lervok, Jr. SOBO
- #6, Faith Bloomquist, Sr. Crusader
This means that the final game of regionals will be played by the teams Harvest Christian and Rockford Lutheran on Halloween, October 31, 2024 at 6 p.m.
