Andrew Scalia (1942-2023)

Andrew J. Scalia of South Beloit was born on May 4, 1942, in Beloit, WI, the son of Peter and Rose (Digirolamo) Scalia. Andy was a 1960 South Beloit High School graduate. He married Carol Mickey on August 21, 1965 in St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, IL.

Andy passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Javon Bea Hospital, Rockford, IL.

He was the former owner and operator of Compact Motors. A former member of the Italian American Club, he could be found every morning with his restaurant friends, as well as telling stories at Hillside Towing. Andy was very proud of his family. He enjoyed shooting pool at his home and watching his grandchildren at their sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Scalia; son, Peter (Kristen) Scalia; daughter, Rosanne (Joseph) Rollette; grandchildren, Riley (Lauren) Rollette, Reed (Avery) Rollette, Drew Rollette, Taylor Scalia, Sara Scalia, and Amber Scalia; great-grandchildren, Rowyn and Hadley; cousins, Mary (Jim) Degan, Joseph (Vita) Digirolamo, Mickey McCormick, and Frank Barraco.

Andy was predeceased by his parents, several relatives and beloved dog, Pepe.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Rd., Beloit, WI, with Fr. Lawrence Oparaji officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the church.
