Gracie Darwin was a good girl with a heart of gold

Gracie Darwin, 17, of South Beloit, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Javon Bea Hospital, Rockford, IL, due to injuries from a tragic accident.

She was born on August 23, 2005 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Sabrina Hayes and Jeremy Darwin. Gracie attended South Beloit High School.

Gracie was employed by Dollar General in South Beloit, IL. She enjoyed playing volleyball, basketball, swimming, and card games. Gracie was very adventurous, loved go-karts and going fast, and lived by the motto “all gas, no brakes.” She was a good girl, with a heart of gold, was dependable, and loved all of her siblings, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her mother, Sabrina Hayes; father, Jeremy Darwin; brothers, Austin (Tiara) Williams, Kevin (GG) Skilling, Jamar Hayes, Jamal Hayes, and Jaylen Darwin; grandfathers, Danny Hayes and Robert Darwin; grandmother, Vicki Stone; great-grandmother, Ilah Tinder; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, including, Sandra (Kurt) Drost, Jackie Hayes, Tina (Brett) Guetschow, Nicole (Randy) Sadler, Jeff (Kristin) Hayes, Derek Darwin, and Nicole Stone.

Gracie was predeceased by her grandmother, Marie Hayes; great-grandfathers, Robert Darwin Sr. and Bill Tinder; and uncle, Danny Boy Hayes.

A Celebration of Life for Gracie will be held at a later date. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorials in her name may be made to her parents, 1609 Hayes Ave., South Beloit, IL. A GoFundMe campaign has also been set up "to help with funeral expenses and to help with bills while they are off work."
