Robert Callahan loved chocolate bars and chocolate milk

Robert Callahan Sr. (1938-2023)

Robert Louis Callahan Sr. was born on August 19, 1938, in Beloit, Wisconsin. He was the son of Gernard Andrew and Blanche Mary Tillie Elizabeth (Hopp) Callahan. He grew up and attended schools in Beloit, Wisconsin before enlisting into the United States Air Force in 1956.

Robert passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Beloit Memorial Hospital in Beloit, Wisconsin.

Robert was married to the former Charlene Marie St. Peter for several years before they divorced. He remained single the rest of his life. He was employed at Warner Electric in South Beloit, Illinois, retiring as a supervisor after more than thirty years of employment.

Robert loved music and playing guitar. He enjoyed making food on the grill, riding his tractor, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had “a thing” for chocolate bars and chocolate milk. We are all going to miss him

Robert is survived by his children, Carol (Kevin) McCurdy of Roscoe, Illinois, Patti Hogan of Beloit, Wisconsin, Robert Callahan-McNally Jr of Pennsylvania, and Tom Callahan of South Beloit, Illinois; sister June Ann Bates of Clinton, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Michelle, Mike, Melanie, David, Jennifer, Thomas, Patrick, and Nicholas; twenty-two great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Callahan; siblings, Margie, Bill, Ron, and Edith along with their spouses; a great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; and his trusted furry companions, Cringer, Sheba, Charlie and Tuffy.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home, 424 Prospect Street, Beloit, Wisconsin 53511.
