Village officials in South Beloit and Roscoe Township are preparing for a series of meetings this week that will address community projects, public safety initiatives, and local events. Residents are encouraged to attend to stay informed about the decisions affecting their neighborhoods.

Here’s what’s on the agenda:

South Beloit City Council Meeting - October 7, 2024, at 5 p.m.

Location: City Hall, 519 Blackhawk Blvd., South Beloit, IL

Essential Items on the Agenda:

Approval of Claims: Claims for payment from September 14 to October 4, 2024, will be reviewed and approved.

New Ordinances and Resolutions:

• Ordinance 2817: Amend zoning regulations regarding City Council votes on Planning & Zoning Commission decisions related to special uses.

• Ordinance 2818: Add a new section on public camping and amend existing loitering regulations.

• Resolution 6560: Approve a hotel-motel fund tax agreement with Visit Beloit, Inc.

• Resolution 6563: Approve a collective bargaining agreement with the Illinois Council of Police for full-time laborers and operators.

The council will also discuss the appointment of a new member to the Parks & Recreation Board. After discussing pending litigation, collective negotiations, and real property matters in an executive session, the council will reconvene in open session if necessary.

South Beloit Park and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting - October 8, 2024, at 4 p.m.

Agenda Highlights:

• Approval of minutes from the previous meeting held on July 17, 2024.

New Business:

• Planning for the Trunk or Treat event on October 26, 2024.

• Discussions on future events for 2025, City Park improvements, and a disc golf course development.

Roscoe Township Board Meeting - October 9, 2024, at 7 p.m.

Location: 5792 Elevator Road, Roscoe, IL

Agenda Overview:

Approval Items: Minutes from the prior meeting, bills, and fund balances.

New Business:

• Discuss and approve the expense limit for purchasing a replacement township vehicle.

• Discuss trail signage and the potential purchase of a shed for approximately $10,000.

• Review and set tentative levies for roads and town operations.

• Re-appoint Nola Carnine to the Cemetery Committee for a three-year term ending in September 2027. The Cemetery Committee is looking for new members. 

The Highway Commissioner, Clerk, Assessor, Cemetery Committee, Historical Society, and Activity Coordinator will present their reports, if any.
