Lee Wayne Barnett, 81, of Roscoe passed away peacefully April 20, 2022. Born March 19, 1941, he was the son of Claud and Rosena Viry (Hill) Barnett. He married Carolyn Sue Thompson on March 1, 1961 in Sikeston, MO. For more than 30 years, he worked for Sutherland Lumber where he was a manager in Ft. Atkinson, WI, later transferring to the Loves Park, IL location. Lee later worked as a grocery bagger at Schnuck’s in Roscoe. Lee enjoyed golfing, building bird houses and was an avid bird watcher. You could often find him feeding his “pets”- the squirrels and the birds - all of which he had names for. Most of all, Lee loved to spend time with his beloved family.
Survivors include daughter, Gina (Daniel) Underwood; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Barnett; grandchildren, Karen (Chris) Gault, Dana (Derek) Epstein, Melissa (Kelly) Schwochert, Jacque (Karri) Pitsavis, Robert (Jennifer) Derr, Nic (Christine) Barnett, Kenneth Underwood, Nicholas Underwood, Erica Derr; twenty great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and sister, Carolyn (Dale) Dickerson. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his son Clint Barnett, and one brother.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 26, 2022 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe. Burial will be in Willowbrook Cemetery, Roscoe. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2022 in the funeral home and again from 10:00 AM until time of service Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the family to be used in Lee’s name at a later date.
