Benjamin Riley Schoenhardt, 28, of Roscoe, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022. He was born May 22, 1993.

Ben is so loved and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his parents, Brian and Lynn Schoenhardt; his younger brother, Alex; his maternal grandmother, Sylvia Riley; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers. Ben was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Bernie Riley; his paternal grandparents Harland and Joyce Schoenhardt; and his cousin Michael Schoenhardt.

Ben was a 2011 graduate of Hononegah Community High School and earned his Associates Degree from Rock Valley College. Ben was employed by Garrett’s Restaurant in Rockford, next to the Golf Shack, for the past four years.

Ben was an avid Green Bay Packers fan as well as a loyal Chicago Cubs fan. He loved being active, whether it be golfing, playing baseball, swimming, rock climbing, or anything involving the outdoors. He enjoyed music, photography, and drawing. He cherished the times he spent with his family. One of his greatest pleasures was sharing time with his friends and co-workers, and making memories with them. Ben relished the summertime, especially a glorious, sunny day. He carried the sunshine everywhere he went and with every life he touched. He lit up the room with his beautiful smile and outgoing personality, his genuine concern for others, and his amazing sense of humor. Ben never knew a stranger, and was able to create connections with anyone that he spoke with. His sweet, kind soul carries on through the ones he touched. He will be greatly missed.

The last photos on his Facebook page showed him on a mountain top wearing a Hononegah T-shirt.

Funeral service will be at 4:00pm with a visitation from 12:00 noon until the service on Sunday, March 6, 2022 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe, IL 61073.
