Casey Perkins (1971-2021) could fix anything and always had a joke to tell

Casey Perkins, 50, passed away on Monday December 27, 2021, at Javon Bea Hospital's  ICU unit surrounded by his wife and daughters due to complications of COVID. Casey was born March 2, 1971, in Rockford, IL, to James and Jackie Perkins. Casey started dating Heather Boyden in August 1990, getting married on March 13, 2000. Casey worked 17 years at Lincoln Rent-All and Sales.  He held many positions there, but most recently he was a small engine repair mechanic and enjoyed it.

Casey proudly and faithfully rooted for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls. Casey had many talents and hobbies. Casey enjoyed playing the drums and guitar - turning a talent and hobby into a true passion.  In his younger years (not that he’s really old) he enjoyed fishing with his brother Tim and nephews.  His newest hobby was woodworking - he built a TV stand and a desk. Casey could fix anything that needed fixing as he was a real handyman. Casey had the greatest love for his granddaughters, even though he really wanted just one grandson.

Casey also had the best sense of humor, always had a joke to tell someone, and some jokes he would even make up on his own.  He will be so deeply missed by all who knew him, that’s for sure.

Casey leaves behind his wife of 30 years Heather; daughters Tricia (Kevin) Boyden Loberg and Kayla Boyden; granddaughters Kealynn, Sophia, Olivia and Eleanor; sisters Lorie Shallcross, Tammy Algeria, Donna (Tony) Sanchez, and Beth (Paul) Kohlhorst; brother-in-law Nick and Sami Boyden; sister-in-law Hillery (Stephanie) Boyden; father-in-law Corky (Kim) Boyden; step father-in-law Jock Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and fur babies Benny, Greta and Ray.

Casey was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jackie; brothers Tim and Gary; brother-in-law Duane Shallcross; mother in-law Jan Smith and fur-babies Diva and Halie.

The family of Casey would like to thank Javon Bea ICU team for doing everything in their power to help heal Casey. All the nurses were phenomenal, especially Jon, who took the time to shave Casey’s beard twice. It is this type of kindness and care that needs to be recognized.

The family will do a celebration of life for Casey in the spring/summer of 2022 in a park-setting. Thank you all for all your prayers for Casey and our family. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 712 Windsor Road, Loves Park, IL. www.statelinecremations.com
