Kids could get candy early at the trunk or treat on Sunday, Oct. 24 at Roscoe  United Methodist Church. The event was moved inside because of rain. Besides groups from the church,  Cub Scout Pack 620 and the Roscoe Lions Club also passed out candy.

At the entrance to the fellowship hall, the staff of Rockton-Roscoe News distributed mostly Dum-Dums - the classic, all American lollipop that has been a favorite since 1924. Student photojournalist Indigo Sterud observed that the younger the child, the more likely they were to choose Blu Raspberry. Editor Michael McGinnis, in his beige trench coat and floppy straw hat with a PRESS badge in his hat band, observed that the first flavors to run out were Cotton Candy and Root Beer. Senior Correspondent Jean Seegers seemed the best at putting shy, small children at ease, most of whom said "Thank you" when prompted by their parents. You might not have recognized our staff because, though we all had blue and white Rockton-Roscoe News T-shirts, we all wore masks.
