Village of Roscoe might allow a parking lot variance to make it cheaper to pave it
At Wednesday's meeting of the Village of Roscoe Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), Tim Stewart of StraightLine Moving told the ZBA he wants to pave a gravel parking lot at their new location in 5365 Edith Lane. The ZBA recommended that the Village Board waive the usual requirement to add curbs and gutters, saving the business at least $10,000, according to Stewart. The final decision will be made by the Village Board at its meeting on May 8.
Stewart said his business needs more parking, so they are planning on covering over a gravel lot and repairing a culvert at the entrance. Village Administrator Scott Sanders says that granting the variance in this case is a good thing: two nearby businesses want to request the same variance and pave their gravel lots too. That would improve drainage in the area. The Village's engineers will be checking on the progress of the renovations.
