Roscoe Lions Club Fall Festival, Sept. 6-8, 2024, Leland Park, Roscoe, IL

The Roscoe Lions Club has finalized plans for the 2024 Roscoe Fall Festival, September 6-8, at Leland Park in Roscoe, Illinois, and is sending large colorful postcards to every home in the area. The first festival was held in 1910 and it has been presented by the Roscoe Lions Club for 54 years.

Each year, the event features food, drinks, carnival rides, games, vendors, exhibitor’s tent, raffles, and lots of musical entertainment.

Admission is free.

The Lions Club Café, courtesy of the Lady Lions, opens Friday, September 6, at 5 p.m., as does the Poison Ivy beer tent. Bingo kicks off at 6 p.m. The O.G.M.C. takes the main stage for live music, from 6 - 10 p.m.

Saturday, September 7, is designated Kids Day on the Midway. Rides and games are provided by Skinner’s Amusements. Discount wristbands can be purchased from noon to 4 p.m. for $30. Tickets go on sale at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

On Saturday morning, children parade through Leland Park (costumes are optional). Line up is at 10:30 a.m. at the Lions Club tent. The parade begins at 11 a.m. Prizes for best costumes will be awarded to boys and girls in two categories: ages 1-5 and ages 6-10.

Karaoke by Johnny West and Friends will be held on the main stage from 12 -4 p.m.

Saturday night, 6 - 10 pm features the Dead Man's Hand band on the main stage.

Start Sunday with a bountiful breakfast at Leland Park, cooked and served by the men of Roscoe United Methodist Church, 7 – 9:45 a.m. Price is $8.50, with all-you-can-eat pancakes.

The Lola Blu Band, playing rock and country music, takes the stage from 3 – 7 p.m.

Everyone is encouraged to visit the exhibition tent. It will be open all three days of the event.

Raffle tickets ($5) can be purchased from Lions Club members throughout the festival. Winners will be announced on Sunday evening at 8 p.m.

First prize is $3,000, second prize is $1,500 and third prize $1,000. Ten extra prizes of $50 each will also be presented.

The Roscoe Lions Club Fall Festival has become a symbol of summer’s end for 54 years, according to volunteer Gladys Hibbard.

Proceeds from the fundraising venture go to the Hononegah Community High School Scholarship fund, area Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, local charities, and the Center for Sight & Hearing.

For those wishing to donate eyeglasses, a drop-off station will be located on the Leland Park festival grounds.
