In 2009, Peter Konz was named a first-team Freshman All-American by The Sporting News and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection. Just one year later, Konz was named honorable mention All-Big Ten, Academic All-Big Ten, and placed on preseason watch list for Rimington Trophy (Best Collegiate Center). 2011 saw a Rimington Trophy finalist honor, first-team All-American, and first-team All-Big Ten by the media, honorable mention All-Big Ten by coaches as well as an Academic All-Big Ten selection.
In the 2012 NFL Draft, the 6-5’ 315lb Konz was selected No. 55 overall by the Atlanta Falcons. NFL.com rated Peter Konz as the premier center in the draft, saying, “Konz looks natural sitting in his stance and swiveling his head to make all the line calls, which is impressive given his uncommon height. He is a smooth athlete who has demonstrated the ability to uncoil his hips into defenders and blow them back to create quick holes in the run game. Konz is a smart player who picks up stunts well and uses his strength and anchor to sit and stall any oncoming bull rushers. He is comfortable to work in fluid motion with his guards when pulling and sealing. He has all the tools to be an elite center for years to come.”
While playing for the Falcons, Konz played in 39 games, starting 28. He was a starter on the Falcons team that lost to the 49ers in the 2013 NFC Championship game 28-24. He played with former NFL MVP Matt Ryan and future Hall of Famer Julio Jones.
Peter Konz's vast football knowledge and techniques will get players better, help them play safer and smarter. For more information about the camp, email Narrowgatelearning@gmail.com.
