South Beloit Boys Basketball celebrating winning the 1A regional title.

The South Beloit SOBOS have been driven all season long with the idea of doing whatever it takes to get the win. Well, in the Regional Final against Lena-Winslow, it took a lot from option #1 Ross Robertson to get the 48-44 regional title victory on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024.

The game was tied at 7 after the opening quarter. At halftime, the game was still close with the Panthers leading 21-20. The 3rd quarter saw South Beloit explode for 16 points and led 36-31. The final quarter was a dogfight. Lena-Winslow was down at one point 39-31. A season-defining 9-point run by Lena-Winslow got them a one-point lead 40-39. Coach Matt Stuckey called a timeout, and his team closed the game out with a big-time 9-2 run. Congrats to the SOBOs on the regional title.

Ross Robertson led the SOBOs with 21 points. It seemed like down the stretch Robertson made every bucket and grabbed every rebound.

Next up is #1 seed Eastland as they got by Polo 48-38. Game time is 7 p.m. Tuesday night February 27, from River Ridge.
