Hononegah beats Lake Zurich 44-43 and will play for the sectional title on Thursday night

Tuesday night saw the Hononegah Indians beat Lake Zurich 44-43 in the girls basketball sectional semi-final match-up from McHenry High School on Feb. 20, 2024.

Lake Zurich won the opening quarter 9-7. At the end of the 2nd quarter, Hononegah had the lead 18-14. After halftime, Hononegah jumped out to a double-digit lead and went into the 4th quarter with what seemed like a comfortable lead 36-26. However, Lake Zurich, the third place team from the North Suburban conference, would not down quietly as they fought and clawed their way back into the game. But Hononegah was able to hang on to get the 44-43 win.

Next up for Hononegah is 29-5 Libertyville who ran over and through Guilford 57-24. They meet on Thursday 7pm in McHenry for the sectional title.

McHenry High School is an easy 60-minute drive from Roscoe and Rockton. So grab some early dinner and head on down to cheer on the lady Indians this Thursday night.
