Strong spirits: why is it so hard?

Why is it so hard to do the right thing? Why do we keep falling into the same old holes? Why do we so often stumble when we are trying to do our best?

Consider this... We live in a world that is broken and sinful, and full of lies. We are sinful. And we have an enemy that very much wants us to fail. No wonder we have a hard time doing the right thing! But there is good news! We need not fail!

Jesus came "...to destroy the devil's work" (1 John 3:8). Let's submit to him and confess our sins, our weakness, and our need for his help. Let's pray for help to distinguish between lies and truth, and decide to follow only the truth, knowing that Jesus is "the Truth"(John 14:6)

Jesus told us: "In this world, you will have trouble." (John 16:13) But he also said, "But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:13). He is our source, and all we need, to be and do our best.
