Coming soon to a hospital near you could be Hononegah Indians senior basketball player Jordan Johnston.

On Wednesday night Jordan Johnston signed on to play college basketball at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Jordan plans to major in pre-med and her desire is to become a doctor one day.

The four-year varsity starter from Roscoe has been a big reason why the Hononegah Indians have been so successful the last four years. As head coach Jason Brunke mentioned during the signing event on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, “Jordan came into the program and has grown up as a player as I have grown as a coach.” Coach Brunke spoke of what Wartburg College is getting in Jordan. He mentioned her leadership, her selflessness, her competitiveness and her team-first desire and work ethic.

When asked what she loves about basketball, senior Jordan Johnston said “I love the team aspect of it, the selfless act, I like being that person who makes that good pass for my teammate to score.”

Jordan is an academic all-NIC-10 athlete and carries a 4.0 + GPA, all the while playing on a 18-3 and #7 ranked Class 4A girls basketball team.

Hononegah takes on Belvidere North and Harlem on back-to-back nights, Thursday and Friday, Jan. 18 and 19, since the Belvidere North game was postponed due to weather earlier this week.
