South Beloit Holiday Tree Lighting - Fri Dec 1 4:30 pm

Nature at the Confluence

Free activities will be going on from 4:30 to 6 p.m. including bonfire and s’more making, unlimited hot cocoa (bring your own mug!), a luminary nature walk, holiday crafts, and family photo opportunities. The tree lighting ceremony begins at 5 p.m. followed by a caroling performance. Park behind M&M Dari Ripple on Charles Street and luminaries will help light your path to the building. The event is hosted by The City Of South Beloit, Nature At The Confluence, and South Beloit Public Library. [more details]

Y-i-Ride Spin-a-thon at Roscoe YMCA - Sun Dec 3 7:00 am

Stateline YMCA - Roscoe Branch

$15 per class. Get in a great workout while supporting our Pedaling for Parkinson's program. This program allows individuals with a Parkinson's Disease diagnosis to attend three spin classes each week at no cost. Biking has proven to significantly reduce symptoms of Parkinson's. Upcycled Ornament Making - Sun Dec 3 1:00 pm

Nature At The Confluence

1 - 2:30 p.m. Craft a unique holiday ornament using upcycled postage stamps from the collection of local Bobbi Sampson. Participants are welcome to bring their own stamps to include in the ornament. Enjoy hot chocolate, tea, and cookies while decorating. While the ornaments are drying, we will take a guided hike on our trails to observe wildlife. Every Thursday Stewardship Day at Lost Flora Fen - Thu Dec 7 9:00 am

Lost Flora Fen on Raccoon Creek

9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Lost Flora Fen on Raccoon Creek is Natural Land Institute’s second largest preserve at nearly 400 acres. Raccoon Creek meanders through it, there is a boardwalk in the northern part where the fen is, there are agricultural fields and natural areas. Volunteers will help with restoring fields to native grassland habitat, maintenance of the boardwalk, mowing, seeding, prescribed burns and other tasks as needed.
Dress for the weather and wear sturdy closed toe shoes. [more details]
