2023 IHSA Football playoff pairings revealed Saturday night

We will soon find out the championship trail for the Hononegah Indians and the South Beloit SOBOs. 

You can watch the show from 8 - 9 p.m. locally on WSLN 19.3, on the NFHS Network, or at IHSA.org.

Hononegah is the 2023 NIC-10 football champion. South Beloit is currently 5-3 and it looks like they will also make the 8-man football playoffs. Hononegah is expected and should receive a home playoff game on October 27 or October 28. It remains to be seen if South Beloit gets a home game or if they will need to travel on the road in the opening game.

The coaching staffs for both teams will have a ton to do before practice begins. They will need to review the film, put together a game plan and lay out a plan for how the week of planning is going to go. Not only for the players but for the coaches as well.

It's why playoff football is talked about as something otherworldly. The kickoff to a season is great but a one and done series of playoff games is something hard to explain. The nerves, the excitement, and the crowd's desire to scream as loud as possible is awesome. It’s something I once heard could have you live forever if you could bottle it.
