Randy Kiger, pastor of Lighthouse Chapel, an independent Christian church, has been holding church services and religious studies in his Roscoe home for several months. The church has grown significantly in that time.

To accommodate the increase in membership, Lighthouse Chapel moved in May 2023 to a larger facility at Kids Spot, 9461 2nd Street in Roscoe, IL.

The Kids Spot location provides more Sunday programs, services and room for growth.

Born in Findlay, OH, Pastor Kiger has been in the ministry for 30 years. Previously, he was a school superintendent in Marion, OH. During that time, he was active in the Nazarene church and in athletes. His goal was to combine pastoral work and athletics.

He graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1992, when he became an ordained minister. He has a degree in religion and business and a masters degree in sports and youth ministry.

He and his wife Kelli and their children moved to Beloit, WI where he was a discipleship pastor at Central Christian Church for 12 years. Before that, he served more than five years as a senior pastor at Gateway Community Church in Machesney Park, IL. That building has since been used by Spanish and Swahili-speaking Nazarene congregations.

While at Central Christian, Pastor Kiger began wanting to start a church and to go back to the Nazarene faith. “I had no issues or problems with any other churches, I was just interested in starting a home church.”

“I found that people have been turned off by some churches.”

So he founded a community church in Roscoe: Lighthouse Chapel. “We talk about what is going on in the world based on biblical teachings. We are constitutional conservative.”

“Lighthouse Chapel will remain at Kids Spot until May 2024," says Pastor Kiger. “Once we have reached 70-75 members, we hope to build our own church [facility].”

“We will continue to be a courageous church, willing to say what we believe is right.”

Sunday services include Bible World View Today at 8:30 a.m. Communion is the first Sunday of each month.

Lighthouse Kids meet at 8:30 a.m., excluding the last Sunday of the month.

Coffee and fellowship can be found at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday.

The church service begins at 10:00 a.m.
