Interview: Mackenzie Carpenter brings her shooting stardom to Rockton's Old Settlers Days on Saturday night
Recently, I had the chance to speak with Mackenzie about her tour, Motel 6, her family, and what’s ahead for her.
The first thing I noted was how humble and kind she was with everyone on the Zoom call. Sometimes when interacting with artists, you can tell that they may have a higher thought of themselves. Mackenzie Carpenter could not have been more open, honest, and funny with me and her team.
Mackenzie is excited to come to Rockton, IL on June 17, 2023 for Saturday night at Old Settlers Days. She is the opener on Saturday night’s main stage. She can’t wait to meet all the amazing people and mingle with Jackson Dean, his band, and the entire crew. However, she is giddy about experiencing the OSD carnival area. She grew up going to fairs and eating corn dogs and caramel apples near Hull, GA, where she has her roots.
Her family has always been an important part of Mackenzie’s life. As a young child, she was always supported by her mom and dad. In fact, as a young artist, her dad encouraged her to begin writing songs, knowing that as she grew up it would help her with her singing career. As a youth, she would grab mics and sing when the mics themselves were larger than her head. Social media is littered with videos of her singing. Currently, Mackenzie lives in Nashville with her two brothers (her brother Micah is attending medical school and her brother Maclean is in her band and writes songs as well). Her parents travel on the road with her a lot, so she is very thankful for the partnership she has with Motel 6 through their My6 Music program.
For a young artist, touring can be very expensive (gas, paying for vehicles, food, places to stay, etc., etc.) since the artist themselves take on all these costs most of the time. Luckily, Motel 6 and Studio 6, the Official Sponsor of Opening Acts ™, has worked to lessen the burden with their My6 Music Package.”
Musicians and their crews can get 10% off stays
through the My6 Music Package, in addition to 50 discounts for music-related items and services from Sonos sound equipment, gas, food delivery, Showtime video streaming, Fender Play step-by-step music lessons, and more. Sign-up is free.
Fans can benefit too. Now through Oct. 31, Motel 6 and Studio 6 will host surprise giveaways for fans, and concert-goers throughout the summer. Mackenzie Carpenter’s summer will be filled with lots of touring and also having one of her dreams come true. She's making her Grand Ole Opry debut on June 20th,
