Darrell Patterson treasured Florida beach vacations with his family

Darrell L. Patterson, 59, of Roscoe, was employed by Evoqua Water Technologies for 31 years, then was a a lab technician for Wisconsin Power and Light for four years He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He loved fishing, camping and coaching his sons’ sporting events. Darrell enjoyed riding motorcycles. He also treasured Florida beach vacations with his family. He was an avid Chicago Bear fan.
Darrell passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle with squamous cell cancer.

He was born August 12, 1963, in Rockford, the son of Kenneth and JoReta (Grimmett) Patterson. He graduated from Harlem High School in the class of 1981. He married Patricia Ronan on October 21, 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children, Isaac Patterson, Jordan Patterson and Jennifer Jenkins; sisters, Loretta Vanstone and Holly (David) Martin; and brother, David Patterson; many nieces and nephews; and loving dog, Cody.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Kenneth Daniel Patterson.
The family wishes to thank Serenity Hospice for their love and compassion, especially nurse Corrine, Dr. Kalweit, and Dr. Gahley with Swedish American Hospital Palliative Care Cancer Center.
Memorial mass will be at 11 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2023, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Arrangements were made by Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
