Donald Hruby had the passion and knowledge to fix almost anything

Donald Edward Hruby, age 80, of Roscoe IL passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2023.

Don was the beloved husband of Christine M. Hruby for 59 wonderful years. He was the devoted father of Brett (Caron) Hruby, Colleen (Rocky) Dander, Denise (Jeff) Chipman, Adine (Sam) Salituro, Eileen (John) Briggs, and Darla (David) Foulker. He was the adored grandfather of twelve grandchildren Bob (Maggie) Termuhlen, Jack Termuhlen, Michael Dander, Jacob (Ryan) Dander-Kauffmann, Mitchell Dander, Christina Salituro, Samantha Salituro, Regina Salituro, Megan Briggs, Katy (Jacob) Thorne, Meredith Foulker, and Cameron Foulker as well as cherished great grandfather to Bentley, Sonny, and Grayson. He was the dear brother-in-law of Cathy (Bill) Beutel, Barb Hruby and the late Judy (Joe) Jacques. He was also a beloved uncle, great uncle, and cousin of many.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Blanche Hruby, and brother Dennis Hruby. He was a loving son-in-law to the late Leo and Regina Michels.

Don was a hard worker and served various roles in the communities of Fox Lake, Johnsburg, Genoa, and DeKalb, IL along with Subiaco and Hot Springs, Arkansas.

After retiring, Don enjoyed his frequent family gatherings, cooking, gardening, watching wildlife, and tending to his aquarium. He was an avid woodworker and had the passion and knowledge to fix almost anything. He will be deeply missed by many.

Funeral mass was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg, IL on Friday, February 24, 2023, followed by interment.
