Michael Butts (1960-2023)

Michael A. Butts, 62, of Roscoe, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023. He was born to Allen and Palma (Pagniano) Butts on October 11, 1960, in Ashland, Ohio. They moved from Ohio to Elgin, Illinois, where Michael attended Larkin High School. While attending Larkin, he met the love of his life, Dana. The couple were married on August 7th, 1982.

Michael was employed by Rockford Systems, where he worked as a salesman. He was an active member and a former elder at Hope Free Church in Roscoe, IL. He was a long-time member and executive of the Roscoe Sportsman's Club.

He loved taking long vacations with Dana in their camper. Mike had a passion for sports. He especially enjoyed coaching his children and grandchildren in their various activities.

Michael is survived by his wife, Dana; sons, Timothy (Rachel) Butts, Kyle (Molly) Butts, and Nathan (Erika) Butts; grandchildren, Owen, Abby, Halle and Levi; father Allen Butts; brother Steve (Jill) Butts, and many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Palma Butts, and his brother, Tom Butts.



A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2023, at McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Hope Church, 5656 Elevator Road, Roscoe, IL, with a visitation held from 10 a.m. until time of service. Cremation rites were accorded. His final resting place will be Willowbrook Cemetery, Roscoe Township, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Winnebago County Pheasants Forever. Donations will support their Youth Mentor Hunting Program to support Mike's passion for preserving the future of hunting and conservation.
