Dolores Thompson enjoyed working with her hands

Dolores J. Thompson, 81, of Roscoe passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Dolores was born October 8, 1941 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Josephine (Weichbrod) Thompson. She was a graduate of East High School in Rockford. Dolores enjoyed quilting, gardening, knitting, and crocheting. She loved to read and play tennis.

Dolores is survived by her children, Joseph (Heidi) Petrow of Rockford, Paula (Bruce) LeVasseur of Muscatine, Iowa, Jeffrey (Darlene) Petrow of Machesney Park, and James Petrow of Rockford; grandchildren, Bryce (Rebecca) LeVasseur, Amanda (Adnan) Petrow, Kiefer Petrow, Kalli (Ryan) Eccles, Kabel Petrow, Zachary (Kristina) Petrow, and Korbyn (Charles) Bolden; great-grandchildren, Cole and Gunner; siblings, Donna Thompson and James (Donna) Thompson. She was predeceased by her parents; brother John Thompson; sister Mary Fatla; and niece Theresa Kleindl.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2023 in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 2nd Ave, Rockford with her niece, Jennifer Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Friday, January 20 prior to the service in the chapel. Memorials can be given to the family toward a memorial to be established at a later date.
