Teammates give back to our community - Hononegah Lady Indians help out at Old Stone Church

On this Thanksgiving, instead of giving you a box score of wins and losses, I thought it was important to point out and showcase the goodness of four young ladies in our community.

On Nov. 12, 2022, Hononegah varsity girls basketball players Jordan Johnston, Bella Pierson, Olivia Robinson, and Danielle Franz volunteered at the Old Stone Church Pantry after practice and conditioning.

When I asked Olivia Robinson why she did this act of service: “It was important for me to participate in this because the people who volunteer at Old Stone are very inspiring and I think it is amazing what they do for the community. I want to be a part of that, especially during this time of year. It’s also another fun form of team bonding.”

When I asked Danielle Franz why she did this act of service: “Many of our teachers and coaches encourage us to be service-minded. When the opportunity came up to help Old Stone Church, we were happy to be able to help out and give back to the community.“

When both of these young ladies were asked what they were thankful for, they both spoke of being "thankful for the friends and family that have supported them with school, sports, and life".

I find myself taking a breath today and thinking how incredibly blessed to have four young women like this in our community and representing us throughout the sports they play and the future places they will go in life.

With this simple act of service, these ladies showed us something we can all be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

I hope you have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
