Elden Peterson was a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years

Elden L. Peterson, 90, of Roscoe, was an expert machinist, working at National Lock (8 years), Rexham (10 years) and Roper Whitney (22 years). He also owned and operated Peterson Landscaping for 40 years. 

Elden was a volunteer firefighter at North Park Fire Department from 1959 to 1965, once rescuing two small children. He also served at the West Suburban Fire Department from 1965 to 1980.

Elden passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in his home after a year of wonderful care provided by Heartland Hospice. 



Elden was born on November 4, 1932 and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He loved to fish and garden and was a lifelong Packers and Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Kristi (Greg) Champion; son, Kenneth Peterson; grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Azbell) Peterson; son, Kevin Peterson and parents, Mable and Thomas Peterson.

Funeral service will be at 11:00am with a visitation from 10:00am until the service on Saturday, November 12, 2022 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park. Private family burial will be in Willwood Burial Park, Rockford.
