Connie Lopez was a self-proclaimed introvert but always eager to talk politics

Constance “Connie” Ann Lopez (nee Kremer) of Roscoe, IL was born in Chicago, IL on June 18, 1943 to Melvin and Olga (Skogsberg) Kremer. During the 1960’s Connie did what many other young people were doing: she dropped out, burned her bra and headed to Europe with her best friend Tosca. They had several adventures together but eventually, the duo ran out of money, so they sold off what they could and returned to the United States.

A couple of years later, Connie met and married Manuel Lopez in 1967. He was a true ladies man until he passed in 2020, but out of the tumultuous union, she had two beautiful children who were her pride and joy, Renee (Andrew) Mealey of Roscoe, IL and Anthony (Christine) Lopez of Alton, IL.

On September 8, 2022, Connie passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Connie taught her children many valuable life lessons, most importantly, to remember all are created equal, no matter their skin color, gender, or religion. As you can tell, she was a passionate supporter of Democratic values and was always eager to talk politics with anyone who would listen. When Connie finally retired from her 9 to 5 job, she spent her time gardening, jewelry making, knitting, traveling, and adoring her only grandchild, Madison.

Because Connie was a self-proclaimed introvert, there will not be any formal funeral which would make her the center of attention and embarrass her in heaven. The family would like to thank Serenity Hospice & Home for their kindness and support during Connie’s last months here with us. "We couldn’t have done it without all of you, especially CJ, Chloe, Jen and Anna."

Finally, the family asks in honor of Connie, that you remember to vote in every election, to make sure your ears are clean, to take an aspirin for whatever ails you, and to know it is okay to have chocolate ice cream for breakfast.
