Former Hononegah Indians boys soccer player Owen Ivanuck and his teammates at Loras College in Dubuque Iowa have been picked to finish second in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) standings in the conference's 2022 preseason coaches poll.

Owen Ivanuck is returning to the pitch for a 2nd season for the Dunhawks. Last season, Ivanuck got action in six games where he tallied two shots and one assist in 24 total minutes.

The University of Dubuque was tabbed as the favorites in 2022, taking five first-place votes in this year's poll. The Duhawks received two first-place votes (54 points) and rank just ahead of Luther College, which also grabbed a pair of first-place votes (52 points).

Simpson College and Wartburg College rounded out the top five of the poll.

Dubuque was the regular season champions in 2021, but Loras spoiled the party in the postseason as the Duhawks took down the Spartans 1-0 in the A-R-C Tournament Championship game. That win propelled the Duhawks to the NCAA Division III National Tournament, where they earned a 2-1 win over North Central before falling 4-0 to No. 12 St. Olaf College in their second contest.

Entering 2022, the Duhawks return plenty of star power and depth, including four returning all-conference selections in midfielder Kevin Kucaba, defenders Jared Block and Michael Brandt, as well as goalkeeper Connor Fitzpatrick.

The Duhawks begin their 2022 campaign on Friday, Sept. 2, at Capital University in Ohio at 7 p.m. ET. The first A-R-C contest is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24 versus Nebraska Wesleyan at 5 p.m. at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque, Iowa.
