Edward James Rothas, Sr., age 85 of Rockton, IL passed away at home on June 9, 2022. 

Ed was the loving and devoted husband of Ginger Rothas. Ginger and Ed married in 1957 in Chicago where they raised their family. During those years, Ed was very active in the Edison Park Youth Organization. He served in every position from president to coach of football, basketball and baseball. He is remembered for his strong integrity and hard work ethics which rubbed off on his kids and players.  

Ed was the father of four: Edward Rothas Jr. who passed in 1998, son David and wife Cyndi, daughter Joyce and husband Wayne, and son Brian and wife Melissa. In addition, he had eight grandchildren: Michael and wife Rebekah Rothas, Paige and husband Alan Hoops, Chase and Paris Desjardin, Adam, Brett, Kelsey and Hope Rothas, and three great granddaughters: Sierra, Sydney and Savannah Rothas.



Ed was born on April 24, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Jake and Ann Rothas and nephew to Katherine Lynch. Ed was a proud graduate of Lane High School and attended Purdue University.

Ed was best known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He had many stories and jokes to tell.

After retiring from being a Teamster after 38 years, he drove a USPS mail truck for an additional five years. He was an active member of the FA (Family Anonymous) for over twenty years.

In 2000, Ed and Ginger moved to McHenry, IL and lived there until 2019 when they moved to Rockton. They continued to find great joy in being with family and attending their grandkids’ activities.

Ed’s advice to everyone was to be respectful and enjoy life.
