UPDATE: See more pictures on the Facebook event page!

Starting Friday night, Charles Dickens’ beloved story A Christmas Carol will be performed four times by the local cast and crew of CYT Chicago (Rockford Chapter) during the Rockton Christmas Walk. For a complete cast list, see our previous Christmas Carol story.

In one of many magical moments, the Ghost of Christmas Present (played by Emily Loner) announces to Ebenezer Scrooge (played by Aly Loner) that "I've done you just a teeny-tiny favor." Scrooge isn't sure he wants a teeny-tiny favor, but the Ghost gleefully assures him, "Don't worry, I promise, they're small." And they are small - elves, sprites, ballerinas, and toy soldiers. Except, there are about two dozen of the darling creatures singing and dancing in Scrooge's bedroom. The Ghost tries to encourage Scrooge to join them but the awkward miser is hopelessly outclassed.

Tickets for this Broadway-style show can be purchased for $15.00 online or $17.00 at the door. (Psst! The discount ticket coupon code is CYTChristmas.)

Evening showtimes are Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

Afternoon shows on Saturday and Sunday are at 2:00 p.m.

A Christmas Carol was originally produced at Madison Square Garden in New York City for 10 Christmases in a row. It features music by eight-time Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken (Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Disney's The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island).

The sets and costumes are all professional quality, stored between shows in CYT Chicago's warehouse at their headquarters in Cary (you can rent them out). CYT Chicago produces over 30 of these musical theater productions each year in 10 different areas in Northern Illinois, including Rockford, as well as Southern Wisconsin.
