Richard Brady spent his whole career at Taylor Freezer

Richard Leroy “Butch” Brady was born in Rockton, Illinois, to the late Gilbert and Myra Brady in 1937. He lived all of his life in Rockton.

Richard married his beloved wife, Marie, on June 29, 1957. Together he and Marie built a strong and loving family.

Richard passed away, peacefully on March 21, 2024. He was 87. Richard was a dedicated, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched.

Richard was a dedicated employee at Taylor Freezer. He worked at Taylor until his retirement. Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He loved boating, fishing, hunting. He also loved farming and woodworking. His excellent building and woodworking skills were always on display. He was always there to help his family with projects and repairs.

Richard had a special place in his heart for the family cabin in the north woods in Wisconsin. He was also a proud member of the Rockford Power Squadron, where he could share his passion for boating with like-minded individuals.

Above all else, Richard valued his wife and family, devoting his time and energy to making their lives better.

His family wishes to thank the Azura Memory Care staff and Agrace Hospice in Beloit for their help, support and the compassionate care Richard received through his last years,

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Marie Brady; children, Joseph (Rosemary) Brady, Julie (Tom) Breese; grandchildren Michelle (Brandon), Kaci (Mitchell), Breanna (Jeff), Jordan, and Adam (Kimbra); great-grandchildren, Charlie, Stellan, and Maeve. brother Jim (Sharon) Brady and sister Linda (Tom) Woodward along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Myra Brady, and sister Donna Slabaugh.

Per Richard’s request, his cremains will be interred in Rockton Township Cemetery.

The family will have a Celebration of Life luncheon at the Rockton American Legion, 221 W. Main St., Rockton, IL on Thursday April 4, 2024 from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. for fellowship and refreshments. A memorial visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL on Wednesday April 3, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
