Santa’s Attic packed with Christmas goodies

Hundreds of early Christmas shoppers stopped by the Rockton Township Museum looking for (and finding) great bargains at the annual Santa's Attic Christmas sale. Those who missed the sale can stop in the museum on Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Even though we will be celebrating Thanksgiving in a few days, folks are already thinking about decorating and celebrating Christmas.

The ladies at Rockton Township Historical Society collected, sorted, and tagged hundreds of Christmas decor in anticipation of their annual Santa’s Attic Sale on Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023. The event is the biggest fundraising venture of the year for the society.

A steady stream of shoppers checked out the eclectic assortment of Christmas-themed items on display all through the museum.

Shoppers who missed the Santa’s Attic sale will get another chance to shop during the Rockton Christmas Walk. The museum will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023.

This is the fifth year of the event. Member Linda Sonneson has been visiting rummage and estate sales year-round collecting Christmas-related items, including some antiques, for the Santa’s Attic sale.

Books, decorations, lights, ornaments, Christmas dishes, wreaths, nativity scenes and so much more, filled every nook and cranny in the museum. One of the most unique items was a collapsible Christmas tree that fits in a tote bag. Great bargains were everywhere.

The Historical Society is already accepting donations of Christmas and holiday items for next year’s Santa’s Attic.

All proceeds from fundraising events are used to maintain the museum.

Watch for the Geranium Sale in May 2024, and the Trash to Treasure/ Rhubarb sale May 17-18, 2024.
