Scarpetta family mourn the loss of their beloved Brock

Brock Scarletta (2007-2023)

Brock Scarpetta was a normal, active six year-old boy who enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially horseback riding. There were no signs indicating that he would be diagnosed with Batten Disease, an extremely rare disease of the nervous system that has no cure. There are less than ten cases of the disease in the United States. Batten Disease forever changed Brock and his family’s life.

After battling the disease for ten years, Brock passed away on Oct. 10, 2023 at age 16 at his home in Rockton, IL.

Brock was known for his huge smile and contagious laugh. He attended Shirland Elementary School for two years. He then went into the Winnebago Co-op Program in 2015.

Brock is predeceased by his great-grandparent, Richard Knorr; Bob and Claudette Jobson; his grandparents, Tino and Barbara Scarpetta; great-grandparents Ann Wheaton; great-uncle Robin Wheaton and his great-grandparent Maurice McDonald.

He is survived by his parents Brad and Christina Scarpetta; sisters Karly and Cloe Scarpetta; his grandparents Deby and Gary Graupner, John Jobson and Sherry O’Brian; great-grandparents Phyllis Knorr, Sadie McDonald and Eldon Wheaton (Brock); nephew Easton Brock Jansen;  nieces, Steeley Grace Jansen and Remington Jansen; aunt Jody Scarletta (Jeremy); cousins Jaxson and Jaidyn Genore, his uncle Jason; his aunt Kelsey Jobson and cousins Colton and Delaney Jobson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023 from 12 - 4 p.m. at the McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Il 61072. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, 4 - 5 p.m. at the same location.
