Dozens of dogs respond to “Last Call” at Rockton Swimming Pool

Summer is drawing to a close and schools are starting. It’s always a little sad when swimming pools close for the season. No more hot weather and dips in the pool until next June.

Before shutting down and cleaning up at the end of the season, the Rockton swimming pool at Village Green Park closes out the season with a special treat for dogs.

The pool remains open for one last swim, but no people are allowed in the water. It’s for dogs only.

This year, dozens of dogs and dog-owners began arriving at the pool about 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023. At first, some of the furry pets were timid about plunging into the big pool, but had a great time getting their paws wet in the baby pool.

Since the event was for dogs only, owners tossed balls and water toys and may have had almost as much fun as their pets.
