Russell A. Moore, 75 of Durand, IL, worked in various machine shops before working for Seward Screw Products. He retired in 2017. He was a volunteer fireman for over 15 years with the Durand Fire Department - Winnebago County Volunteer Fire Protection District #1. Russell married Cynthia J. Lee in Rockton, IL on August 26, 1978. Russ enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He died Wednesday, June 14, 2023 in a highway collision west of Rockton.

Russell was born June 11, 1948 in Freeport, IL, one of fifteen children of Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne and Rowena (Barker) Moore, who operated a radio for the Durand volunteer fire departement. After the family moved to Durand, their 0ne-room schoolhouse closed. Russ graduated from Durand High School in 1968. He served in the US Air Force from September 1970 to December 1972, during the height of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Durand American Legion Gold Star Post #676

Survivors include daughter, Amanda (Ethan) Bruce, Durand, Illinois; daughter, Patricia (David) Taylor of South Beloit, Illinois; son, Ronald Moore of Janesville, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Shayleigh, Quentin, Memphis Moore and Sebastian Taylor; great grandson Emmitt; Brothers Donald (Donna) Moore, William Moore, Kenneth (Janet) Moore, Harold (Rhonda) Moore, Sisters Nancy Bryan, Joanne (Phillip) Brooks; numerous nieces and nephews

He was predeceased by his wife; sisters Marian Gratton, Linda Knoll, Shirley Barnum, Harriet Schultz, Sharon Armistead; brothers Robert, Stephen and David Moore.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday June 24, 2023 in Howard Cemetery16990 W Campbell Rd, Pecatonica, IL, with Pastor Brenda Byrne officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday June 23, 2023 at McCorkle Funeral Home - Durand Chapel, 101 Main St., Durand, IL.
