Bill Thompson managed convenience stores

Bill C. Thompson, 78, of Rockton, IL, managed several Clark convenience stores and later worked at Kelley Williamson until his retirement. Bill attended North Park Church of Christ. Bill was a skilled woodworker. He had a passion for fishing, often going whenever he could. His family says, "Bill was the patriarch of our family and will be missed."

He passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, September 7, 2022 at Javon Bea Hospital. He was born May 10, 1946 in Walnut Ridge, AR, the son of Curtis and Loretta (Henry) Thompson. Bill married the love of his life, Ida Smith, on May 23, 1964.



Bill is survived by his loving wife, Ida; sons, Curt Thompson, Chuck (Julie) Thompson and Chris (Sarah) Thompson; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Chad Thompson, daughter-in-law Shane Thompson and sister Jean (Ron) Westcott.

A visitation was held from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
