Franz Friedrich Durwen of Rockton, 79, passed away on September 9, 2021, at his home surrounded by his wife and daughter. He was born in Stuttgart, Germany, the son of Friedrich and Maria (Elberskirch) Durwen. He was married to his wife, Renate, for 55 years. He had 2 daughters, Beate and Christine, and 3 grandchildren, Elly, David and Maggie.
Franz learned his trade in Germany as a machinist. His work led him to travel all over the world. While living in the US, he started his own company servicing packaging machinery. He would take his family with him whenever he could while travelling.
Franz enjoyed fishing in Minnesota with his family. He was always telling jokes and stories from his travels. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. His favorite title was Opa.
Franz is loved and will be missed by his wife, Renate Durwen; daughter, Christine (Duane) Introwitz; grandchildren, Elly, David and Maggie; sister, Gisela; sister-in-law, Anneliese; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Beate; sisters, Leni and Waltraud; parents, Maria and Friedrich Durwen; brothers-in-law, Theo, Joseph, Franz, Günter, Hans and Hartmut; and sister-in-law, Anne.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Friday, September 17, 2021 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe.
