Hononegah Booster Club‘s Flannel and Frost event supports athletics and education
The Jan. 31 event provides funds for equipment, uniforms, team travel, and academic club expenses.
Flannel and Frost guests came out on Saturday, Jan. 31. 2026 in support of the Hononegah Community High School's Booster Club in the event's second year.
Varied shades of flannel and comfortable winter wear were spotted throughout the Rockton American Legion - American Center.
Money raised from Flannel and Frost and other efforts is used for scholarships, equipment, uniforms, team travel, and academic club expenses.
Current Booster Club President, Nicole Roggenbuck warmly welcomed everyone and thanked the event sponsors and Booster Club supporters.
An eye-catching balloon display provided a place for photos.
The event spanned four hours of casual fun, starting with a cocktail hour followed by dinner catered by the Hoffman House.
After the dinner, many danced to the music of The Stevee Nix, generously sponsored by Haas Construction and Senz Insurance.
A super raffle rolled out five $2,000 winners.
Guests could purchase tickets for a Liquor Pull, sponsored by Patrick Moore of DeRango & Cain, LLC. A disc was chosen at random to determine the winner of a surprise bag of liquor, color-coded with purple and gold tissue wrap.
HCHS Athletic Director and Booster Club Board member Andrew Walters opened by saying, “Three years ago, this club didn't exist. We always welcome volunteers to help in different ways.”
Walters announced that the boys bowling team are the state champions. He added that the individual bowler in the final game was Ian Sharre, with a score of 279. The school welcomed back the HCHS bowling team in style on Sunday, Feb. 1.
Walters added, “Our wrestling team also won the regional championship.”
Each year, the club awards seniors with the Rosik Family Scholarship, which granted a total of $6,000 in scholarships last year alone.
The mission of the Booster Club is to build school spirit, support student athletes, academic clubs, and extracurricular activities to make a lasting impact on the Hononegah community.
One of the Booster Club’s largest fundraisers is their annual golf play day, scheduled for Friday, July 17 at the Ledges Golf Course. The cost is $104 per golfer and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, lunch by The Hoffman House, dinner, and prizes.
During Homecoming, the club organized a successful Tribe Tailgate. The Spirit Shack is open at all home football and other games, where the best in Hononegah wear is found.
Last year the Booster Club had a “Pink Out for Benny,” a young boy who is fighting a rare and aggressive form of muscle cell cancer. With every sale from these shirts, Lightning Graphic and Andy Bufalo of Bufalo Contracting matched funds.
A concession stand open during the fall sports season adds to the fun of home games.
During the Purple and Gold Festival, HCHS Athletic Director Andrew Walters announced the introduction of a new scholarship in the name and memory of former Athletic Director, Steve Cofoid. The funds for this scholarship are being raised through the sale of a Friday Night Lights candle by Craft and Foster.
The Hononegah Booster Club is said to have originally started in 1997. A decision was made to disband the club several years later, and in 2023, the Booster Club made a return with fresh faces and new ideas.
Current board members include President Nicole Roggenbuck, Vice President Chris Haas, Treasurer Matt Jarvis, Co-Treasurer Josh Herron, Secretary Megan Forsythe, and HCHS Athletic Director Andrew Walters.
Trustees are Tiffany Warren, Jess Harshbarger, and Kelley Nguyen.
All are welcome to support the Booster Club's goals and purposes by joining at gold, purple, or white membership level.
